ALADDIN, MUSSELBURGH 2011-12: SHOW SCHEDULE
SYNOPSIS: In ancient Peking, in the little known Scottish enclave of Musselburgh, only one boy can help the evil Abanazar find the magic lamp that will make him the most powerful warlock in the world. That boy is Aladdin. However, Aladdin couldn't care less about such things; he only has eyes for the beautiful Thistle Blossom, the bonniest lass in the land.
Will Aladdin realise the danger that Abanazar poses? And will he be able to save the family steamie? Well, with the help of his silly brother Wishee Washee, a magical flying carpet and the Genie of the Lamp, he might just.
PRODUCTION: Written and directed by Liam Rudden and produced by Brunton Theatre, the team responsible the highly entertaining productions of Dick McWhittington, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Sinbad And The Little Mermaid and Mother Goose, this is a brand new pantomime for 2011.

CASTING COMPLETE FOR ALADDIN, MUSSELBURGH
Auditions for Aladdin, this year's panto at the Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh, were last week.
They left Lesley Smith, the show's producer from East Lothian Council, and myself with some tough decisions to make - the standard was that high.
However, after discussing all the variables and possible character combinations, we came to a final decision and I am now pleased to be able to announce this year's company.
Making his Brunton panto debut as Aladdin will be Scott Hoatson. Returning will be Edward Cory. This will be his sixth Christmas in Musselburgh, and he will be playing Abanazer, another suave baddie.
Julie Heatherill, our favourite principal girl is back too. Princess Thistle Blossom being her fifth panto role at the East Lothian theatre.
Our final returnee fro 2011 is Isabella Jarrett who, for her third festive season at the Brunton will be doubling up as The Empress and The Spirit of the Ring.
Now to the newbies. First up, in the title role, I'm very pleased to have Derek McGhie, a great addition to the team.
Also joining the regulars as The Genie (a very special Genie, at that) is Robert Read. Those with long memories may remember he played a similar (but definitely not the same) role, just over a decade ago at the Brunton.
Finally, no panto would be complete without a Dame, and this year, playing Widow Twankey, I am over the moon to have Colin Carr. Colin's previous pantos have found him starring opposite the likes of Loose Women's Sherrie Hewson and Steps' Ian H Watkins.
So, there you have it. Some panto pals old and new for 2011, all I've got to do now is find a tame flying carpet ;o)

GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY? YOU DECIDE!

All stand. A court room somewhere... anywhere... nowhere.
Charles Brand, a minister’s son is charged with the rape of Jennifer Lyons. Is he guilty or not guilty? Only you, the jury, can decide as there were no witnesses. As the events leading up to the alleged assault are explored, who will you believe?
Silence In Court is an interactive court room fiction that draws on real life procedures from a number of different legal traditions to create a mock court in which the audience are the jury.
As such you must do as instructed by the judge, as the final decision will be yours.

There are only two verdicts available to you, guilty or not guilty, and you must discuss what you have heard until you have reached a majority decision. It may help to take notes. Feel free to do so. You will also be given an opportunity to cross examine both complainer and accused.
You must also elect one of your number to be the Foreman of the Jury. Any volunteers? No? Then, debate that too before deciding if Charles Brand is guilty or not guilty?
