Mother Goose On Tour

17 shows over two weeks. Yes, for the first time ever the Brunton panto goes on tour, with Mother Goose heading out to entertain schools who were denied their annual trip to the theatre by this year's bad weather.

Lead the company on the road will be Arron Usher as Muddles and Edward Cory as Gertie Gaga, along with Julie Heatherill as Jill, Isabella Jarrett as Fairy Glee, Gerry Kielty as Prince Jack, Lori McLean as Vainglorious and of course Goosey, as herself. Check out the picture above.

Which just leaves me to wish each and every one of you a Happy Hogmanay and a prosperous New Year. Work has already started on next year's Brunton panto, Aladdin... Oh yes it has!  In fact it's already on sale, call 0131 665 2240

And so Mother Goose, Musselburgh, faces the final curtain... sort of...

Well, the final performance of Mother Goose began 12 minutes ago - the 65th show in seven weeks. Thanks to everyone who made it such a sell out success - cast, crew and audiences.

Before I go however, here's a final review, should have posted it earlier, but better late than never. Four stars from Jon Melville http://itsonitsgone.wordpress.com/

And of course, there's still the tour to look forward to... exclusive news follows...

Mother Goose, Musselburgh, To Tour Snow Hit Schools

With 17 performances for 14 different schools over a two week period, the Brunton Theatre are to take a Schools Edition of my Mother Goose on the road, ensuring that all the kids kept from attending the panto during its run in Musselburgh, are not disappointed.

The actors are quite happy too - means an extra couple of weeks work for them at a time when it is normally quiet.

Mother Goose - Musselburgh : Three In A Row

Right, lots to get through today. Three great reviews, some more insightful than others, but then I would say that, wouldn't I?

What the diversity of views ddemonstrate is that universal truth; a review is but one person's opinion.

First up, the East Lothian Courier, which covered Mother Goose in a two page spread, featuring lots of photos. Do buy the paper if you can, meanwhile, you can read Kirsty Gibbin's review here: http://www.eastlothiancourier.com/news/roundup/articles/2010/12/02/407830-mother-goose-delivers-/

Next, our first five star review of the year, courtesy of Primary Times, can be read here: http://www.primarytimes.net/edinburgh_brunton_mother_goose.php

Finally, The Scotsman review can be read here:  http://living.scotsman.com/features/Theatre-reviews-Snow-White-of.6646958.jp?articlepage=2

Mother Goose - Musselburgh: STV Review

Arron Usher as Muddles and Craig Glover as Mother Goose at the Brunton

Now, should you experience a sense of deja vu reading this review, it's probably because you've already read one in The Times - same reviewer, similar content. That said, there is a nice little additional paragraph tagged on the end.

I should also point out that Edward Cory is NOT our choreographer, that's the lovely Beth Noble. Eddie is however, assistant director. Also, Arron Usher plays Muddles, and not Mumbles as stated on the STV website.

You can read the review here:

Mother Goose, Musselburgh falls foul of Snow White... sorry white snow.

After four performances where schools audiences failed to turn up thanks to the heavy snow falls, the cast of Mother Goose return to the stage tomorrow - although they did do a run of the show today without an audience, just to keep in shape.

So, all going to plan, there should be audiences for the 10am and 2pm shows tomorrow. If you are in the area and off work because of the weather, and find yourself at a loose end, there are tickets still available, call 0131-665 2240

In the meantime, here's a pic of our leading lady to brighten your day, the lovely Julie Heatherill who plays Jill, the bonniest lass in Musselburgh - her fourth consecutive principal girl role at the Brunton Theatre.

Her previous roles were Cinderella (2007), Sleeping Beauty (2008) and Coral, the Little Mermaid (2009).

Of course, if you buy the paper today, you'll also get a big colour pic of Arron Usher as Muddles.

Mother Goose - Musselburgh : Invasion of the reviewers.

Usually, the Brunton panto finds reviewers popping up at just about any performance bar the press one. Not this year. On Saturday, we welcomed no fewer than eight reviewers to Mother Goose, although one of them did turn up for the matinee - the Daily Record, read the review in Friday's paper.

So, for the Gala Performance we had the Edinburgh Evening News, The Scotsman, East Lothian Courier, The Stage, The Primary Times, Leith FM and The Times - which just happens to be the first to publish.

It's in today's edition... check it out if you can get a copy. If you want to read it online there's a charge, but you can find it here:
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/public/sitesearch.do?querystring=mother+goose&p=tto&pf=all&bl=on

Not sure I agree that we are the Primark of pantos... but then it is The Times, awfy fantoosh, and we don't have Sir Ian McKellen as our Dame ;o)

Tomorrow, you can read Josie Balfour's review in the Edinburgh Evening News.

New Posters For Dick Whittington - Johnstone

Johnstone Phoenix Theatre Group have produced a set of eight new colourful posters for their production of Dick Whittington, which opens on Saturday.

Just thought I'd share them with you...

Mother Goose Gala - Saturday 27 November

Well, Mother Goose at Musselburgh's Brunton Theatre is well and truly up and running now - six down, 59 to go, including Saturday's Gala Performance.

Forth 2's Bob Malcolm joined the fun today, this year adding his familiar tones to a song...

Today, also saw our first ever non-stop panto. No interval, just a straight one and a half hour performance, with some judicious cuts along the way. The customer is always right, it seems.

Anyway, there are a few tickets still available for Saturday's Gala, call the box office on 0131 665 2240 now to avoid disappointment.
