Farewell Mother Goose...

AFTER a record-breaking 83 performances, the cast of the Brunton Theatre's production of Mother Goose finally hung up their costumes on Tuesday last.

The pantomime, which opened in November at the Musselburgh venue, took to the road for the first time in the theatre's history earlier his month so as not to disappoint school audiences who had been prevented from attending due to the snow.

Arron Usher, who played Muddles, said: "It's been exhausting but an absolute blast. It's difficult to believe that we started before anyone other professional panto in the UK and, I've been told, we are still going after all the others in Scotland have finished."

So it's a final farewell to Gertie Gaga, Muddles, Vainglorious, Prince Jack, Fairy Glee, Jill and Bumble.

I've already started writing Aladdin for next November - it's on sale now, and looking forward to directing Blue Christmas, by Barry Gordon, which will run throughout the Leith Festival at Cruz, on The Shore, however, in the meantime, here are a few memories of the last days of Mother Goose...
